Welcome from the Artistic Director

Classical music — old and new — unerringly captures our imaginations. We cannot help but be enlivened, challenged, disturbed, comforted, transfixed, transformed … and thus profoundly enriched. These are captivating musical expressions, ideas and emotions, and each composer's offering contains an unending wealth of riches for the imagination and the heart!

In 2008-2009 the Handel Choir celebrates the miraculous music of Bach, Handel and Haydn, plus a French twist — the exquisite Requiem by Maurice Duruflé. Concerts feature period instruments and distinguished guest vocal soloists in a fine variety of intimate concert settings. Read on — there are exciting musical experiences for you, and you must join us for them!

I am thrilled to celebrate my fifth year as Artistic Director & Conductor of the Handel Choir this season. What a pleasure it has been for me to be a part of this organization's growth and to work with our outstanding singers, instrumentalists, board members and staff; all this, while enjoying colleagues in other Baltimore fine arts and education organizations! This is such a wonderfully supportive community, I believe, because we all know the positive impact of the arts is indisputable.

We perform to share with you the marvelous discovery of this life-affirming thing called music. If you have heard one of our recent concerts, come back. If you haven't heard us lately, join us. Take advantage of discount prices by subscribing today!
